Thanks to the support of the ABE Department and the Faculty of Science and Engineering, a group of eight students from the BEng in Architecture and the MSc in Urbanism and Sustainable Environments have recently travelled to Melbourne and Geelong, Australia, for the first architecture overseas workshop of UNNC.

Jointly organised by Dr Maycon Sedrez and Dr Gregory Pitts from Deakin University and Dr Giaime Botti from UNNC, the workshop experimented with AI-generated images to envision the near future of an abandoned industrial building in Geelong and produce visually engaging narratives of its transformation. The workshop represented a great opportunity to learn about different AI-based tools for image generation and develop soft skills related to teamwork and intercultural exchange and communication. At the same time, through a city walk in central Melbourne, it allowed students to visit a series of significant 19th, 20th and 21st-century buildings and get to know the city’s thriving street art scene.

ABE is now looking forward to hosting the next international workshop and welcoming Deakin University’s staff and students next year!
