Scholarships
A significant number of full and partial scholarships covering tuition fees and living costs are available for exceptionally qualified candidates. However, scholarships only apply to FULL TIME applicants.
The University is reluctant to take in part time applicants, although exceptionally talented applicants will be offered a place.

Innovation Team Scholarships
Innovation-Team 2013|
Innovation Team works closely with Zhejiang University, Ningbo Institute of Material Technology & Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences and leading companies in auto parts manufacturing like Minth and Shuanglin, to invent low carbon technologies. 25 full scholarships will be offered. IDIC Scholarships (International Doctoral Innovation Centre)
Tuition fees paid in this fully-funded four-year PhD programme that integrates a leading-edge research project with research training in interdisciplinary skills.

A personalised pathway through this programme that enables students to take taught modules during the first year to gain a balance of skills across key technology areas, future applications and human and societal issues.

Training in innovation and ingenuity to equip students for careers in industry, from global companies to start-ups.

A three month internship with a Company in China

Regular seminars and meetings with industry representatives to develop contacts with future employers.
A stipend of £800 per month whilst in the UK for the first year. ¥ 3000 per month stipend and free accommodation for years 2 – 4 whilst at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and one return flight.

PhD Scholarships in Engineering
Faculty of Science and Engineering is deveoping very fast. There are many scholarships available for PhD in Engineering, which involves Civil Engineering; Chemical & Environmental Engineering; Electric & Electronic Engineering; Mechanical, Materials & Manufacturing Engineering; Geographical Sciences; Mathematics; Architecture & Built Environment. These scholarships cover tuition fees, living allowance, accommodation in China. Basically students will be registered in the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, but may stay for a period of time in Nottingham UK up to 12 months. Talented students with excellent 1st Degree (Bachelor degree) are also qualified to apply for a PhD directly. PhD in Engineering normally lasts for 3 years.
Applicants are strongly suggested to discuss the research proposal with the potential supervisor(s) before making applications.
Nottingham University Business School China Scholarships
4 full scholarships for 2012/2013 academic year, with a period of time in the UK campus for the research; when applying, applicants should have taken the IELTS/TOEFL test; research areas cover business, finance, accounting, management, etc. Entry requirements for applicants graduting from British universities with a master program: average score for all courses: at least 65% AND dissertation over 65%.

Full Scholarships in Economics(1+2)
The students are required to stay at the UK campus for the 1st year, and the following 2 years at the China campus.
Economics of Nottingham ranks one of the top in the world, in 2003, a professor from Nottingham won the Nobel Prize in Economics.
Scholarships with School of Contemporary Chinese Studies (1+2)
Duration: 3 years
The successful candidates will spend one year in the School of Contemporary Chinese Studies at the UK campus and two years at the China Campus. Candidates are going to work closely with two supervisors, one from the China Campus and one from the UK campus, on areas including business, economy, media, culture, international relations, governance, history, law and politics.
Full Scholarships with Division of English
Research areas:
1) Psycholinguistics/Cognitive Neuroscience of Language
2) Intercultural Communication/Workplace Communication
The PhD fellowship is 3 years in length.
The recipient may be required to spend some time at the University of Nottingham UK or partner research institutions in Europe.
The recipient may be expected to teach or perform other departmental duties as directed by the Head of School for up to 6 hours a week.

Full Scholarships for other research areas
Normally they are 3+0 scholarships, i.e. 3 years at the China campus, however, the students may stay for a period of time at the UK campus.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships, combining paid teaching with PhD research may be available for suitable candidates.
Qualifying Conditions
Applicants must have:

for applicants with Bachelor's degree and graduating from Chinese universities: 80% at least on average score and the university ranks top 30 in China;

for applicants with Master's degree and graduating from Chinese universities: 80% at least and the university should normally be a 985/211 university;

for applicants with Bachelor's degree and graduating from British universities: 1st Class Degree;
-
for applicants with Master's degree and graduting from British universities: 65% at least;
-
for applicants graduating from a university in other regions/countries: international equivalent qualifications

Satisfy UNNC’s English language entry requirements. Please note that the academic and English language requirements will depend upon the type of course applied for. Requirements for admission to the PhD program can be, 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0 IELTS score depending on the area of study.

After the award of a scholarship its continuation for subsequent years is subject to satisfying the progression requirements applicable to each year of study.
Note: Bachelor Degree holders can be recruited directly into PhD programs, but only restricted to research areas of Computer Science, Engineering, Economics and Sustainable Energy Technologies.
