Barry Talbot is a Senior Planner and Pre-Construction Manager specialising in reinforced concrete frame construction. Following his degree in structural engineering, Barry worked as an Engineer for a property developer in Ireland. He then worked as a Project Manager in a civil engineering company, where he was involved with motorway, harbour, airport and bridge construction mega projects. After relocating to the UK, Barry became involved in concrete frame construction, initially as a Project Manager and later as a Pre-Construction Manager. He currently offers planning advice to a large international contractor based in the UK. Barry also has a PGDip in Project Management and an MBA in Construction and Real Estate. With an interest in BIM, big data and collaboration, Barry is currently undertaking his PhD in the use of performance data to predict future outcomes and has published a number of papers in the area.Barry sits on a local committee for the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in Kent, United Kingdom and is the editor of a regional publication for Mensa. He is also a mentor at University College Estate Management and has been collaborated with Dr Georgios Kapogiannis and Haobo Jiang at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China to design and develop an improved scheduling mechanism of Concrete Walls, Floors and Columns in Construction Projects by Revit Add-Ins.

Barry in his talk will explain what, why and how a synergy of an integrated 3D information modelling helped to reduce planning complexity in a number of concrete suspended slabs, walls and columns in reinforced concrete construction project in London. The talk will take place on 29th October 2018, IEMET 121 between 09:00 and 11:00 as part of the Building Information Modelling and Management module. The talk is open to other staff and students of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at The University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
