The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) hosted the Fifth International Conference on Engineering Vibration (ICoEV 2026) from 15 to 18 October, bringing together more than 300 experts and scholars from nearly 100 universities and academic journals worldwide. The conference featured leading international academics, including academicians, national talents, and Editor-in-Chief of top journals alongside industry exhibitions showcasing cutting-edge vibration measurement technologies.

“This is the first time this international conference series has been held in China. It brings the latest research breakthroughs in dynamics to the region, while providing a valuable opportunity for Chinese and European university research teams to connect with industry, fostering collaborative innovation, talent development and the translation of research into practical applications,” said Professor Jian Yang, Conference Chair and Head of UNNC’s Department of Mechanical, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering.

The conference reflects UNNC’s growing role in connecting international research with industrial innovation. Building on partnerships with leading European universities and Chinese companies, the University has established joint laboratories and collaborative training programmes to advance research in vibration technology, automotive engineering and advanced manufacturing.

“Many of the latest advances in engineering are now taking place in China, and Ningbo has a strong industrial base and considerable manufacturing capabilities. I hope vibration engineering can play a more active role in serving society and promoting further international collaboration,” said Professor Marian Wiercigroch, founder of ICoEV and a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Through its international partnerships and industry engagement, UNNC continues to create opportunities for collaborative research, talent development and the application of scientific advances to real-world challenges.
