Overview: The workshop is designed to enhance postgraduate students’ exploration and knowledge of various career paths. Taught by industry professionals, this workshop focuses on careers outside of academia available to the graduates, and it will equip the audience with new information about specific career paths to help guide their future career pursuits and decisions. Are you considering your post-PhD or post-Postdoc job prospects, but feeling unsure of your options? This workshop will introduce self-assessment tools, career planning strategies, and job search resources to help you research and explore a range of career paths and feel more prepared for life after UNNC. This session is appropriate for PhD students or Postdocs in any stage of their program or training.


About the Speaker

Dr. Nina Zhang has over 25 years of experience in large Chinese and international banks, including 10+ years in senior management positions. She was most recently the Executive Vice President of Citibank (China) Co., Ltd, and the Head of Citi China Commercial Bank (2021-2023). Dr. Zhang has extensive experience in corporate banking and overall risk management and particularly specialized in cross border financing solutions for privately held middle market clients and SMEs. She held various senior positions in risk management in Citi and two Chinese banks (ICBC and CEB) and managed billions of dollars of credit portfolios in Mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore. Dr. Zhang is currently an off-campus research advisor for postgraduates of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law in China, and a guest lecturer at Cardiff University Business School in the UK. She was elected Honorary Fellow of Cardiff University in 2023. Dr. Zhang holds a PhD degree in Banking and Finance from Cardiff University.
