The distinguished guests included Buxing Han, Academician of the Institute of Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr Jingxu Zhu, a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Professor of the University of Western Ontario, Professor Xiang Gao from Zhejiang University, Professor Fangming Jin from Shanghai Jiaotong University, Researcher Huaiying Yao from Ningbo Urban Environmental Observation and Research Station, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang Tailai Environmental Protection Experts Haiming Bao, Professor Xiaolei Fan from the University of Manchester, and Professor Chuang Peng from Wuhan University.

Professor Ping Cui, Associate Provost of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China delivered a speech at the conference and expressed welcome and thanks to all the experts and scholars participating in the conference. Professor Tao Wu, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, introduced the China Beacon Institute. It will focus on three key scientific research areas: intelligent manufacturing, green chemicals and energy, life science and healthcare, gathering global scientific and technological innovation resources, and establishing an international scientific and technological innovation comprehensive platform integrating innovative research, achievement transformation, knowledge exchange and talent cultivation.

In this conference, Professor Xiaolei Fan from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom gave a speech on the adsorption and catalytic performance of porous materials. Professor Chuang Peng from Wuhan University shared the law of parsimony in research on energy & Environmental chemistry. Professor Qingyang Lin from Zhejiang University introduced the multiphase flow in porous materials, Professor Xin Xiao from the Institute of Process Engineering of the Academy of Sciences China reported on the international application of global optimization. Professor Jun He from the University of Nottingham Ningbo, Professor Li Tao from Southeast University, Professor Yuanhui Ji, Researcher Hang Xiao from the Ningbo Urban Environment Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Yandaizi Zhou from the University of Western Ontario gave wonderful reports. Finally, Academician Jingxu Zhu from the University of Western Ontario in Canada made a concluding speech for the meeting.

The joint conference of Key Laboratory of Carbonaceous Wastes Processing and Process Intensification & Key Laboratory of Urban Environmental Processes and Pollution Control of Zhejiang Province was also held.

Professor Tao Wu, the director of the laboratory, made the 2020 annual report of the laboratory. The laboratory focused on the urgent needs of "Green Zhejiang", and carried out scientific research on core technical issues in the process of organic waste resource disposal, and achieved high efficiency through process integration and optimization. The person in charge of each direction of the laboratory made a research progress report.

Finally, under the chairmanship of Academician Buxing Han, Director of the Academic Committee, the development of key laboratories was discussed. The experts and leaders participating in the meeting greatly affirmed the laboratory's development achievements, and conducted in-depth discussions on the laboratory's development positioning, scientific research, talent team, platform construction, scientific research output, and organization management. The atmosphere of the meeting was warm.
