On 17th September, in the opening ceremony of 2022 Ningbo Zhejiang China Talent Technology Week, Professor Tao Wu was officially appointed and conferred as a member of the Ningbo Talent Strategic Consulting Committee.
Professor Tao Wu, Fellow of the British Royal Society of Chemistry and Fellow of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, is an active researcher on clean energy technologies at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). He has about 30 years of experience on the efficient conversion and utilization of fossil fuels and biomass in chemical and environmental engineering fields. His research programmes cover a wide range from blue-sky research to proof of concept and patent development leading to commercialization. Professor Wu has completed over 40 research projects funded by both funding agencies and the industry.
In the past five years, he has published over 100 journal papers related to energy conversion technologies and resource efficiency and holds 10 patents. His current interests focus on clean energy conversion technologies, energy saving, wastewater treatment, air pollution control, etc. He serves as committee member on a number of national and regional professional bodies and is currently leading the Municipal Key Laboratory on Clean Energy Conversion Technologies at the UNNC.
Since September 2016, he has taken the role as the Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering. With his leadership, the Faculty has achieved many excellence in the teaching and talent cultivation, research and knowledge exchange, and introducing high-level talents to Ningbo.
The FoSE Student Extra-curriculum Programme is one of the major initiative he raised to enhance the student’s campus experience and essential skills for further study and career. The FoSE graduates have shown their capability and competitiveness after their graduation.
There are many key research figures joined the University in the past five years and Professor Tao Wu also encourage young researchers to unlock their potential and excel in their research areas.
