The workshop Sustainable Dwelling. Addressing sustainability in residential projects through design took place in the CSET basement on Saturday 28th November 2020. The activity, run by Luca Frassanito from Hydea Beijing (https://www.hydea.it/en/), and organized by the Vertical Design Studio, was specifically
designed for Part I Architecture students to enhance their awareness and understanding of sustainability themes, and to promote an integrated sustainable approach for their residential schemes.
The workshop, that also saw the participation of Master and PhD students, was structured in two main moments: firstly, the main sustainability themes, features and requirements in dwelling projects in China were explained through a detailed case studies analysis in a theoretical session. Then, the guest provided a series of online and face to face tutorials to our students to improve their projects under the sustainability point of view. The entire event was recorded and posted on Moodle to be available throughout the entire Academic Year for our learning community.
Finally, this workshop also represented an important chance to strengthen the relationship between ABE and the architecture industry to prepare the students for their future careers in the design fields.
