On December 25, 2025, the 7th Qiushi Innovation Creativity Competition, guided by the Ningbo Municipal Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and organized by the Prefabricated Building Professional Committee of the Ningbo Construction Industry Association, concluded successfully in Ningbo.

With the theme “Building a New Intelligent Ecosystem, Creating a Green Future.”, the competition focused on the innovative application of intelligent construction, green and low-carbon technologies, and digital management in engineering practice. The event attracted over 30 entries from universities and construction industries in Ningbo.

A PhD student team from the Department of Civil Engineering, FoSE - comprising Zhang Zhuhao, Deng Yizhao, and Ran Mingzhe, supervised by Professor Wang Juan - entered the competition with their project titled "Data Analysis and Identification of Pavement Distresses Using Ground-Penetrating Radar." After successfully passing the preliminary review, they advanced to the final round. During the final defense, the team closely aligned their presentation with practical engineering needs, systematically articulating the project’s innovative approach, key technical methodologies, and engineering application value. Following evaluation by the expert panel, the team was awarded the Innovation Prize, achieving an overall ranking of fourth place—the highest among all participating universities.

This achievement fully demonstrates our students’ comprehensive capabilities in engineering innovation, technological integration, and practical application, and also highlights the university’s effectiveness in talent cultivation through its innovation and practice oriented approach in research and education.
