The 2022 results for the Ningbo Major Science and Technology Programme, the Ningbo Soft Science Programme, and the Ningbo Commonweal Programme have now been announced by the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau, and colleagues in the Faculty of Science and Engineering colleagues have been successful in various municipal level funding applications including 11 projects in the Ningbo Major S&T Programme, one project in the Ningbo Soft Science Programme, and three projects in the Ningbo Commonweal Programme.

The number of approved projects in the Ningbo Major Science and Technology Programme has doubled in number since last year. The approved projects cover a wide range of UNNC research areas including green chemistry, healthcare, digital port, carbon peak and neutrality, high performance motors and modern agriculture.

Each of the 11 projects funded within the Municipal Major Science and Technology programme are university-industry/university-university collaboration projects. Centring on Ningbo’s ‘246’ industrial cluster, the faculty focuses on intelligent manufacturing, green chemicals and energy, and life sciences and healthcare, introducing innovative scientific and technological resources and talents to power local development and industrial levelling up.

To further enhance the research capabilities of the faculty, a series of internal funding schemes have been launched including the New Researcher Grant, a Faculty Conference Grant, and a Faculty ad-hoc project grant. Additionally, the faculty also supports project proposal preparation through organising information sessions and sharing workshops for major funding opportunities, internal/external pre-submission expert reviews and translation support for international staff. These funding programmes not only improve the capabilities of scientific research and the output of academic staff, but also promote their competitiveness for external research funding opportunities.

Professor Giampaolo Buticchi, Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange, expressed his big congratulations to staff members.

As a faculty, we are a globally engaged and committed to making a difference in our city and region. We focus on developing our people’s potential and our research strategy aims to solving problems and improving lives,” said Professor Buticchi.
