The forum was jointly chaired by Prof. Tao Wu (Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Nottingham, Ningbo, China (UNNC)), Prof. Michael George (Professor of Chemistry, School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham, and the Li Dak Sum Chair Professor in Chemistry at UNNC), Prof. Xiang Gao (Dean of College of Energy Engineering at the Zhejiang University) and Prof. Liang Chen (Director of Institute of New Energy Technology at the Ningbo Institute of Industrial Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CNITECH)). This conference was sponsored by the University of Nottingham, CNITECH, the Committee of Utilisation of Environmental and Thermal Energies, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and the Ningbo Association for Science and Technology.
Patrick Y.K. Chau (Vice Provost for Research of UNNC, Li Dak Sum Chair Professor in Information Systems and Operations Management) delivered the opening speech for this conference. He mentioned about green chemistry and energy, which is the key area of “Beacons of Excellence”. The “Beacons of Excellence” Innovation Institute will vigorously introduce the international scientific and technological innovation and talent resources from UNUK campus, give full play to the unique advantages of UNNC, based on Ningbo and facing the world. According to the quaternary cooperation mode of "scientific and technological innovation, talent training, achievement transformation, industrial development", the “Beacons of Excellence” plan aims to build an innovation platform for leading domestic and world-class scientific technology. In addition, as an international innovation doctoral training base, innovation research institute will give full play to the training experience and international resources of University of Nottingham international high-end talents and carry out research activities related to Ningbo industry.
13 speakers who are leading scientists in the area of New Energy and Green Chemicals presented topical researches during the conference. The topics focus on the area of catalysis in green chemistry, photocatalysis, carbon capture, and energy conversion and storage, etc. The presenters and the participants had warm knowledge exchange discussions on these topics.

Prof. Guosheng Shao, Director of the State Centre for International Cooperation on Designer Low-carbon & Environmental Materials at the Zhengzhou University, delivered an invited talk at the forum and participated in the discussion.
Professor Ziyi Ge, the winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, from the Institute of Materials Technology & Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave an invited talk at the forum.
Professor Zhimin Liu, the winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, from the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered an invited talk on the topic of the catalytic materials for carbon dioxide transformation.
Professor Dihua Wang, the winner of National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, from the Wuhan University, presented the research works on the production of “Green” carbon from green-house gas by electrolysis in molten salts.
Professor Wallace Leung, the Chair Professor of Innovative Products and Technologies at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, presented the work focusing on the green-chemistry nanofiber technologies for clean energy and environment.
Professor Wei Li from the College of Energy Engineering at Zhejiang University presented the work on micro two-phase flow experimental and computational studies.
Professor Hao Yu, the director of Chemical Engineering Department at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, South China University of Technology, gave an invited talk at the forum.

This international forum has provided a platform for researchers in the field of green energy and chemical engineering to exchange their experience, share recent advances and discuss possible collaborations, also to further explore the research topics related to new energy and green chemistry, propose strategies and exhibit results and outcomes.
