Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch 2018 Christmas Party was held on 8th December. Around 100 Mandarin learners participated in and enjoyed the party. The party served buffet dinner, Chinese talent shows and calligraphy awarding.

Professor Chris Rudd, Provost of UNNC, delivered welcome speech in Chinese. He shared his Chinese learning experience with Confucius Institute and endorsed the achievements of NCI Ningbo Branch in Mandarin teaching and cultural activities.

Then a dance by the staff from NCI Ningbo started the performance. Beginner 1 class, HSK1 class, HSK2 class, HSK4 class and HSK5 class presented Chinese songs separately and won lots of applauses. A video filmed by HSK3 group and a short drama by Intermediate 1 class made the room full of laughter. The participants were also cheered up by games - crushing balloons and Chinese whisper – that were played during the break of performances. Finally, Mandarin learners from Intermediate 2 class presented their calligraphy work and showed their love towards Chinese culture.

In the end of the party, Provost Chris Rudd and Professor Shujie Yao jointly awarded winners in the NCI calligraphy competition that held in a month ago. Professor Shujie Yao delivered a closing speech and  represented all staff of the NCI Ningbo Branch to present Prof Chris Rudd a memory album, in order to appreciate his extraordinary leadership and support ever since the establishment of NCI Ningbo.

The party was closed by gift exchange amongst participants. NCI Ningbo Branch would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
