John Milton famously quoted: “He who reigns within himself and rules his passions, desires, and fears is more than a king.”
Ms. Lv Mo, is such a good example. Mo has obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Management from Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China) in 2011. Talking about why chose the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), she said that this was a choice after her father’s physical visit of the campus. The family was deeply impressed with the beautiful campus and the great platform for the integration of different cultures, plenty resources, and what’s more, different thinking.
Mo said that one of the highlights at UNNC would be attending and leading the student organization SIFE (now renamed as ‘Enactus’) where she met with many great friends and worked together on the projects which instilled in her the courage and the insights to pursue her dreams, no matter how difficult. With the great spirit of team work, and never-give-up, the team finally scooped up the 2nd Prize worldwide in Los Angeles in 2010.
Crucially, UNNC taught Mo about the joy and the power of camaraderie. Although the studies were challenging, she soon realised she wasn't alone. In tackling common problems, she found lifelong friendships. Some of those friends have since got married or started families; she said that she felt lucky to have remained close to them and to have been a witness to those special moments.
Mo chose to study Advanced Management Practice in the Bath University after graduating from UNNC. Benefiting from the solid foundation laid at UNNC, she has obtained the Master’s Degree with a first class. And she gained some working experience in IKEA in Birmingham, where she has learnt the skills of designing, and meeting the customers’ needs.
As the only child in her family, she returned to China in 2014, then started working in her family’s enterprise.
After a couple of years’ working for her parents, she decided to independently create her own new brand – Yangzi, which is aiming to design and produce furniture of great quality for the young people. She is the CEO of Yangzi. With the debut of a bed in the middle of 2018, the sales volume has reached to RMB6.5 million in just 14 days.
‘I believe UNNC enriches people to be the best version of themselves they can be, and as Mr Milton said, when we conquer ourselves, the sky is the limit. The more you follow your heart, the better you get at it.’
We are confident that her hard work, and the support she received along the way, has set her up for a bright future ahead.
