A delegation from the school of geodesy and geomatics at Wuhan University visited the department of Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) on the 15th September 2017.
The Party committee chief Ms. Ping Sun from the school of geodesy and geomatics (SGG) led the delegation. Professor Tao Wu, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FoSE) welcomed the guest to UNNC. In attendance were the Vice dean of SGG, Professor Jingui Zou, Director of the Engineering Department of SGG professor, Shengxiang Huan. They were also joined by other colleagues from SGG Dr. Yangmao Wen, Dr. Zhiqin Zhu, Mr. Zhiming Wang. In attendance from UNNC were, Acting Head of Civil Engineering, Dr Craig Matthew Hancock, Dr. Xu Tang a research fellow in the Geospatial and Geohazards Research Group, as well as Dr. Byung Kang and Mr. Huib de Ligt also from the Department of Civil Engineering.
Prof Tao Wu first introduced the University of Nottingham Ningbo Campus as well as the academic structure of UNNC. Prof Wu described the collaborative relationship between UNNC and the Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China. Prof Wu also talked about the degree programmes from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China which are subject to the same quality assurance processes as in the UK, and has more than 600 teaching, research and professional services staff, recruited from top universities, research institutes and companies from at least 40 countries worldwide. Dr. Craig Matthew Hancock, Acting Head of Civil Engineering and Head of the Geospatial and Geohazards Research Group, followed Prof Wu by introducing the Department of Civil Engineering and the Geospatial and Geohazards Research Group.
Finally the Vice Dean of SGG, Professor Jingui Zou, introduced the history of Wuhan University through its culture, unique architecture and the historic people who have been associated with the University. After the introduction of the university, Prof Zou gives more details of School of geodesy and geomatics, the history of SGG, currently academic staff, research areas and grants awarded over the past decade. Prof Zou also gave an introduction to the course structures in School of geodesy and geomatics. He also invited staff from UNNC to visit Wuhan University, and suggested more knowledge exchange between FoSE UNNC and SGG Wuhan University
