As time passes and everything renews, on January 7 2026, the ‘Welcoming the New Year & Passing on the Torch’ Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Experience Activity, jointly organized by the Confucius Institute and the Graduate School of UNNC, concluded at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. Focusing on the living transmission of intangible cultural heritage, the event successfully created a cross-temporal cultural dialogue through an immersive ‘tangible, touchable, and experiential’ design. It attracted enthusiastic participation from hundreds of teachers and students from different countries, sparking a wave of ‘intangible cultural heritage’ and ‘Chinese style’ on campus.
The event site was divided into four experience zones—’Artisan Craftsmanship,’ ‘Elegant Competitions,’ ‘Cultural Heritage and Literary Charm,’ and ‘Wisdom Lantern Riddles’—transforming static cultural displays into dynamic life practices.
The event organizers stated, ‘Through activities like this, we bring cultural heritage to life in the present. We not only showcase skills but also build a 'bridge of hearts,' allowing teachers and students from different cultural backgrounds to perceive the aesthetic tastes, philosophical ideas, and life wisdom embedded in Chinese culture through hands-on practice. This truly achieves the ideal of 'appreciating one’s own beauty while celebrating the beauty of others, fostering harmony in diversity.'‘
