The International Workshop on Three-Phase Flow Modelling and Simulation was successfully held at the International Conference Center of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) during 23rd – 25th October 2019.
The symposium was jointly organized by the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and the Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg and strongly supported by the Faculty of Science and Engineering of UNNC. The project was jointly sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and German Research Foundation (DFG). More than 40 researchers mainly from 10 institutes and 3 countries attended the workshop.
The workshop was hosted by the co-chairs, Prof. Martin Sommerfeld from Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg and Prof. Xiaogang Yang from UNNC. After the opening speech, Professor Patrick Chau, Vice Provost for Research of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China gave speeches in the Opening Ceremony.
The symposium focuses on the current development and challenges on multiphase flow modelling and simulation. 19 speakers who are leading scientists in fluids and chemical engineering presented their researches in these days. They are researchers from Otto-von-Guericke Universität Magdeburg, Eindhoven University of Technology, Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Helmholtz- Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf, Hamburg University of Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, East China University of Science and Technology, Guangdong Technion—Israel Institute of Technology, North China Electric Power University and University of Nottingham Ningbo China.
After all sessions, a panel discussion of the challenges we face in the multiphase flow was held. This international symposium has provided a platform for researches in the field of three-phase flow to discuss and exchange their state-of the multiphase flow research topics, strategies, results and outcomes, as well as possible collaborations.
