On 30 and 31 March 2022, the new AIOP Digital Port Technologies Lab welcomed visitors from BlueTron company and Huawei Central Research Institute. AIOP members Professor Ruibin Bai, Jianfeng Ren, Zheng Lu and Qian Zhang attended the two visiting events and presented lab facilities, current research topics and previous research fruits to visitors.

This lab is built as a window to show research outcomes by AIOP group. It covers cutting edge research topics including but not limited to digital port giant screen solutions, intelligent scheduling of terminal tasks, VR enhanced virtual port simulation, deep face detection, computer vision based traffic control, gesture detection and natural language big data mining. This lab is designed to combine a working area with 18 seats, a sandbox for 5G empowered mixed reality AGV, a giant screen for big data analytics and simulation and an exhibition block as a showcase for lab outcomes.

BlueTron company is a leading provider of industrial Internet+ applications, industrial big data analytics and industrial AI solutions located in Haishu District, Ningbo. Visitors from BlueTron presented their successful cases of industrial training of adults and graduates. They showed that employers from leading IT companies are interested in employees who graduate from their industrial training. Professor Ruibin Bai, head of school of computer science had a talk with BlueTron guests on further collaborations regarding industrial training of graduates from UNNC.

Experts of port solutions from Huawei Central Research Institute had a talk with AIOP members on cutting edge intelligent solutions for crane port terminals. AIOP members presented the successful cases of Ningbo Port and introduced innovative solutions to port tasks. Huawei experts shared their opinions on the future development of terminal operating systems and AI-empowered analytics of port data. Finally, Huawei and AIOP members reached an agreement on a future collaboration project with over 1 million RMB budget which was expected to be formalized in six months.

Since the establishment of this Digital Port Technologies Lab, it has welcomed dozens of visitors with different backgrounds and different interests. It has been shaped as a showcase for research abilities and fruits of AIOP labs and will play as such a showcase in the future. Over 1 million RMB project budget has been issued in one month, it is expected to bring more chances of collaboration and further deliver a positive impression of UNNC.
