On Friday, the 24th of May 2019, Professor Dan Larhammar visited the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and the teaching/research facilities in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, accompanied by Dr Philip Hall and Dr Cheng Heng Pang.
Prof. Larhammar was attracted to the research activities carried out in FoSE, particularly the established plastic waste recycling work led by the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. He had also discussed about potential collaboration with the Faculty in similar areas.
Prof. Dan Larhammar is a Professor of Molecular Cell Biology at the Uppsala University, Sweden. His research is focused on evolution, neurobiology, endocrinology and pharmacology. Prof. Larhammar is the current President of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and has received the Bargmann-Scharrer lecture from IFCES in 2009 in recognition of a lifetime achievement as a prominent neuroendocrinologist.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, founded in 1739, is an independent, non-governmental scientific organization responsible for promoting the natural sciences and mathematics whilst strengthening their influence and interactions in other disciplines and in society. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences is also responsible for selecting the Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, Physics, and Economic Science.
