On 30 Oct, Prof. Shujie Yao, Director of the Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch, delivered the public lecture entitled as China-US Trade War and the Implications of China’s Economic Dynamics at TB 330. Over 60 UNNC students and staff attended the lecture and showed their great interest and passion on this hot topic.
As a worldwide recognized expert in the economy area, Prof. Yao presented us a holistic picture of the world economic situation with figures and data while talking about the trade war between US and China. Following the background introduction, he explained the reasons of the trade war and effects on both America and China. The highlight part is about the China’s confidence in the trade war despite the US unilateralism and pressure on china’s high technology and economic area. Prof. Yao pointed out that China is suffering loss in a short term but it is the time to test China’s ability and wisdom and we will finally prove our strong resilience. The economic theory and practice, major government policies as well as the internal and external economy environment were also been illustrated in this part. Finally, Prof. Yao indicated the future directions of the China-US Trade War according to his research. The lecture ended in warm applauses and many participants even stayed half an hour longer for asking questions and exchange opinions with Prof. Yao.
This lecture is also part of the ‘’living in china” programme for UNNC international students. Thanks for all the efforts and the Confucius institute will release more interesting activities like this in the future.
