On 28 August, the Arts and Humanities Research Council for Digital Copyright and IP Protection in China (AHRC Centre) and Nottingham University Business School China, in collaboration with the Ningbo Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce, successfully held a technology and innovation exchange event (Digital Technology Drives New Quality Productivity Special Session). The event attracted over 30 enterprise representatives from various industries in Ningbo to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the digital era.
At the beginning of the event, Yihan Fu, an Assistant Research Fellow at the AHRC Centre, introduced the Centre's efforts in promoting the deep integration of industry, academia and research. In particular, since the establishment of a strategic relationship with the Ningbo Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce in May this year, both sides have leveraged the rich educational resources of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and the strong industry cluster advantages of the Chamber of Commerce. The collaboration will jointly promote bidirectional empowerment in technological innovation and industry upgrading. "The universities and research institutions in China have a large number of invention patents, but the rate of effective patent commercialisation is still low. There is still great potential to be unlocked in technology transfer and industry-academia-research cooperation," she emphasised.
Xiaohui Lu, a prospective PhD graduate from the Business School, delivered a keynote speech on "Digital and green-oriented transition". She introduced the development process of digital transformation in the world and China, as well as domestic policy, technology and economic trends. Through vivid cases, she guided the participants to think about how to closely integrate the digital transformation of enterprises with green sustainable development goals and achieve win-win outcomes.
The second keynote speech was presented by Xinbing Gu, a prospective PhD graduate from the Business School. He explained the core connotation of "resilience" to the attending enterprise representatives and explored the importance of resilient governance for the long-term development of enterprises. He also discussed how to effectively enhance the resilient governance capabilities of enterprises, which sparked lively discussions and interactions at the event.
The AHRC Centre's Product Manager, Min Guo, presented on the topic "Practice and challenges of standardized unit vehicles under a unified large market and modern logistics system". He introduced the concept, operation mode, practice and challenges of unit packaging vehicles, as well as prospects in the future and countermeasures to the enterprise representatives.
Following this, Tian Xiao, a prospective PhD graduate from the Business School, delivered a keynote speech on "Responsible operations and global business needs". She elaborated on in-depth the crucial importance of corporate social responsibility in adapting to the demands of the global market through three dimensions: the definition of responsible operations, response strategies in the context of global business and classic case analysis.
The successful hosting of this event not only demonstrated the rich research resources and achievements of universities to enterprises, but also strongly promoted the career development of PhD students from the Business School and provided them with a broader practice and growth platform. In the future, the AHRC Centre will carry out closer and more diversified collaborations with the Ningbo Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce to jointly explore the possibilities of technological innovation.
