UNNC RoboMaster team won the 3rd Prize in the 2019 International Regional Competition. This team named Ningbo South Industry (NSI) consists of students from almost every programme in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, like from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics with Applied Mathematics, Mechatronic Engineering and Environmental Sciences.

It is the first time that students from FoSE to participate in such a global competition. They have encountered countless obstacles during these two years. Our team members’ skills and patience are enhanced each time DJI asking for technical judgement. Through discussing with professors, talking to teams from other universities, developing multiple versions of robots, NSI built 5 robots of 4 different types and was formally admitted to attend the International Regional Competition and Technical Challenges in Shenzhen this year.

With the guidance of supervisors, the team spent 2 years starting from scratch to build a whole team with 4 types of robots. In this project, students are able to incorporate the most up-to date technologies in the field of robotics, such as computer vision, embedded system and artificial intelligence as well as gain hands on experience at the same time.

Tianhong Cai the Captain of NSI said, “This is our first time formally attend the competition. We have seen the strength of other teams who have spent years developing their work. We are determined to do better and learn from the experience. We hope there are more students inspired and join us the robotics competition on campus. Every night we turn the screw, we become more successful than the past, and we can see the success in the near future. Thanks for the strong support from UNNC FoSE and DCL. Next year, we shall continue fighting for the honor of UNNC!”
