From 4th – 23rd July, a group of 25 students from Architecture and Product Design from University of Western Australia (UWA) and UNNC got together to design and construct small structures in Bamboo.

Students worked together with staff from UNNC Architecture& PDM and UWA Desgin School, and a local bamboo craft artisan from Yinzhou district of Ningbo. Students combined traditional knowledge and digital fabrication tools to create four contemporary bamboo pieces.

At the end of the workshop, from 23rd – 30th July, four representative students from UNNC went to Perth, Australia to present the project outcomes and interact with students and staff at UWA.

Through the course of the workshop, students have deepened the knowledge of traditional bamboo making, understood the latest digital design technique, cultivated spirits of teamwork and collaboration, and at most, importantly learnt the understanding of different and distanced culture.
