On July 23-24, 2023, the Academic Symposium on Theoretical Innovation in the Process of Chinese Modernization and Zhejiang (Shaoxing) Practice was held at Shaoxing University. The event was co-organized by the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University and the Yangtze River Delta (Shaoxing) Research Center for New Structural Economics, with the theme "Theoretical Innovation of Chinese Modernization and Autonomous Innovation in Economic Theory" and "Zhejiang (Shaoxing) Practice and Experience of Chinese Modernization."
The Ningbo Research Center for New Structural Economics shared its research findings on the topic "Further Stimulating the Vitality of Microeconomic Entities to Promote the High-Quality Development of Private and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Ningbo" during the forum. More than 70 experts and scholars from the National Alliance for New Structural Economics Research and relevant universities engaged in exchanges and cooperation through keynote speeches and thematic forums.

This conference was co-organized by the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, the People's Government of Jiangbei District, Ningbo, and the Ningbo Research Center for New Structural Economics at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and was supported by the Journal of International Business and Finance, Ningbo Yongcheng Rural Commercial Bank Co., Ltd., Ningbo Changyang Technology Co., Ltd., and the Peking University Alumni Association of Ningbo. Nearly 100 experts and scholars from renowned institutions such as Peking University, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Nankai University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Central University of Finance and Economics participated in the event.

On 3rd November 2019, Guangzhou University held the opening ceremony of the new structural economics research center and the seminar on "long-term economic growth in the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China". Justin Yifu Lin, dean of the new structural economics institute at Peking University, delivered a keynote speech. Chen Jiani and Wang Yuanjia, researchers from Ningbo New Structural Economics Research Center, attended the meeting with experts and scholars from 19 universities and research institutes (institutes).
The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Zhang Qixue, vice President of Guangzhou University. Prof. Lin Yifu, dean of the new structural economics research institute of Peking University, Prof. Chen Jian hua, director of the standing committee of Guangzhou municipal people's congress, Prof. Wei Minghai, President of Guangzhou University, and Prof. Deng Hongtu, director of the new structural economics research center of Guangzhou University jointly unveiled the research center.

On May 25-26 2019, Professor Martin Lockett, Dean of Nottingham University Business School China, and Serena Liu were invited by Institute of New Structural Economics, Peking University to attend the 1st New Structural Economics Academic Seminar in Wuhan. Professor Justin Yifu Lin made a keynote speech titled “Industrial Policies and National Development” and pointed out that the long-term dynamic development of the economy depends on the continuous innovation of technology and the upgrading of the industry. It not only needs an "effective market" for entrepreneurs but also a "facilitating government" to take advantage of circumstances to help entrepreneurs overcome the inevitable market failure in economic development.
Professor Martin Lockett witnessed the Founding Ceremony of New Structural Economics Research Center of Peking University-Central South University of Finance, Economics and Law. During the closing meeting on the construction and cooperation of New Structural Economics discipline, Professor Martin Lockett emphasized the importance of sharing teaching resources and opening New Structural Economics related courses among NSE Research Consortium. He also proposed the joint doctoral program between UNNC and Peking University and encouraged the internationalization of New Structural Economics.

A field study for research project ‘Ningbo’s High-level Participation in Yangtze River Delta Integration’ was conducted by research fellows from Ningbo Centre for New Structural Economics (NCNSE) during last two weeks in March 2019. Mr. Daixin Yang, senior economist from Ningbo Development and Planning Research Institute joined this filed study group.
On 25th March, the field study group attended re-search seminars at Ningbo Development and Planning Research Institute and Ningbo Municipal Commission of Economy and Information respectively. Mr. Guangxun Wang, senior economist of Ningbo Development and Planning Research Institute introduced the industrial layout in Ningbo, especially that of emerging industries.On 25th March, the research group visited Yangtze River Delta Joint Administrative Office in Shanghai. The office provided the latest information on the current situation of Yangtze River Delta integration, especially that in the six area-planning , reform, innovation, urban facilities, transportation networks and public services. On 26th March, the research group visited Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and information and attended a discussion seminar about regional industrial development.

In the morning of December 14, the inauguration ceremony of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University was successfully held in the Sunshine Hall of Overseas Exchange Center at Peking University. Martin Lockett, Dean of Nottingham University Business School China, sent a letter of congratulation and attended the ceremony in person. In the afternoon’s parallel forum on Academic Development and Cooperation, Professor Martin Lockett gave a public speech for the Ningbo Centre for New Structural Economics. On 21st June 2018, University of Nottingham Ningbo China, Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University and Ningbo Development and Planning Research Institute signed the Cooperation Framework Agreement and officially established the Ningbo Centre for New Structural Economics. Our Vision is to build a research and knowledge exchange platform for Policy Research and Academic Research where the government research institutions and universities can share and utilise each other’s intellectual resources to advance Ningbo’s future economic development.
