The 2020 UNNC Golden Intern Awards came to an end. Six contestants successfully advanced to the Top Three Finals after rounds of selection. Yuting He, a Year 3 student of International Studies, stood out and won the first prize with her internship at Intellisia Institute.

The UNNC Golden Intern Awards is one of the most influential internship related activities on campus, aimed at encouraging students to share their experience in public and inspiring more students to enhance their career planning capability through the internship experience.

Compared to other contestants, Yuting had a highly academic internship. Her job was to trace current global affairs in the most cutting-edge academic documents in both Chinese and English, and analyse its impact. "The college lectures emphasise the past and the present, but the work in Intellisia Institute wants you to look into the future," Yuting said.

Her colleagues at Intellisia Institute also impressed her. Besides being serious in work and dedicated to academic research, they also love life. "They are what I want to be," she said.

Liyuan Sha, a student of International Business Management, is a second prize winner. As an intern in Category and Channel Development at Unilever, she participated in the one-year preparation of the promotional campaign for a new product. With the logical training in the module of Marketing Analysis at UNNC and practice from self-study, Liyuan soon got familiar with the working mechanism and developed the strategies with her teammates. The sales of the new product reached 500,000 within two weeks, accounting for 20% of the sales for the official website.

"FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) industry values employees' personal skills and team awareness, and this is where UNNC has an advantage on," she said. Therefore, Liyuan encourages UNNC students who are interested in the industry not to be afraid to give it a try.

Jin Xu is the other second prize winner, who served as a People & Culture Intern at HAYS Specialist Recruitment (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. "My job was to support the internal recruitment of the company and research the management tools related to the corporate strategy. I study International Business Economics at university, and the practical knowledge of management is precious to me," he said. Besides this experience, he learned skills like business etiquette and gained a comprehensive overview of various industries.

The organiser of the event, Admissions and Career Development Office, is committed to providing "professional, comprehensive and tailor-made careers services" for students. Each year the Office organises diverse internship programmes, including Summer Placement Programme, Internship Fair and International Career Week.
