Following the conclusion of the public notice period and final approval by education authorities, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has officially been granted the qualification to recommend its outstanding undergraduate students to postgraduate programmes at top universities in China without taking the national entrance examination, making UNNC one of the first Sino-foreign cooperative universities in China to obtain this qualification.
The postgraduate recommendation system allows selected top graduates to bypass the rigorous national master's entrance exam (the initial stage). Instead, they enter directly into the interview and assessment stage based on their university's recommendation. The core value of the system lies in freeing exceptional students from intense exam preparation, enabling them to focus on research projects or practical experiences to enhance their overall capabilities.
This qualification also represents a significant benchmark of a university’s quality, carrying high prestige and rarity.
In a short span of 20 years since its establishment, UNNC has demonstrated robust educational capabilities by leveraging its international strengths and has achieved remarkable outcomes in academic subject development, talent cultivation, and more.
"With over 90% of our graduates pursuing further studies at world top 100 universities, this qualification opens up the domestic pathway alongside our established international route, providing graduates with broader choices and access to premium resources. It recognises UNNC's educational quality and marks a new starting point for fostering international talent," stated Professor Guoping Qiu, Vice Provost for Education and Student Experience at UNNC.
