The world’s first multi-position, cryogen-free MRI device, co-developed with the participation of UNNC, has recently been successfully deployed in a local hospital in Ningbo. This pioneering technology replaces costly liquid helium with copper strips for cooling, addressing a significant gap in MRI technology.
By eliminating the reliance on imported cryogens, the device is not only more portable, adaptable, and safer, but also enables a wider range of clinical applications, including standing and inclined position scans. This breakthrough marks a new phase in China’s advancement in technological innovation and high-end manufacturing, enhancing medical accessibility and supporting the internationalisation of domestic high-end medical equipment.
