Chinese New Year/Spring Festival (golden week)

Chinese New Year will fall on February 10th 2013. This event is the equivalent of Christmas and New Year in the West, rolled into one. Street celebrations, fireworks, special foods and lantern shows are all central to the celebratory atmosphere. It's a fantastic spectacle.

National Day (golden week)

National day celebrations take place on 1st October and usually last for one week. Like Chinese New Year, government organised events, fireworks, concerts and decorations are central to the activities of this week.

Dragon Boat Festival

Each year Dongqian Lake hosts a festival of dragon boat racing. Teams from the local areas all compete on Ningbo's finest lake for bragging rights.

International celebrations and festivals

Due to the cultural mix Ningbo embraces, many communities both on and off campus get together to celebrate international festivals and holidays, throughout the year. These include, Christmas, Thanksgiving, St Patrick's Day, Holi, Oktoberfest, Cino de Mayo and Mid-summer festival.
