Biography
I am a University of Nottingham (UK) graduate with a deep interest in language learning. As part of my undergraduate degree, I spent two years living in Berlin, where I fell in love with the experience of speaking a foreign language on a daily basis. This is what ultimately led me to China, although Mandarin has proved to be a far greater challenge than German!
Most of my teaching career has been in China. My first year was in Xi’an, teaching General English to younger learners at a private language school. I then worked with undergraduate students in Shanghai for three years - again, teaching General English. I made the move to Academic English in the UK, teaching postgraduate students at university campuses in London, Essex, and York. My career then led me back to China, here to UNNC, where I’ve now been working for more than a decade.
