As the first Sino-foreign cooperative university in China, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China provides a natural environment for intercultural communication in of the aspects of learning, living and social atmosphere. Targeted initially at international students , the "Living in China" series was launched in 2019. The project aims to help international students on campus strengthen their Chinese language skills, improve their understanding of Chinese culture, laws and regulations, as well as local career pathways, comprehensively enhancing their education of Chinese culture during their study in China.

Through a series of immersive cultural activities, the project effectively alleviates the sense of unfamiliarity and alienness that international students feel when they first arrive in China, helping them better adapt to their studies and local life in China. Over the past four years, the project team has accumulated extensive experience and established to some extent good branding. Both the organizers and participants of Living in China series have raised higher demands and requirements for the activities. In due course, the project's focus will be shifting towards more off-campus excursion, and more spaces for social and cultural practices are taking shape.
