Nottingham Case Innovation Centre

The Nottingham Case Innovation Centre (NCIC) was officially established in September 2023 as a university-level research Centre under the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China (UNNC). It is operated by the Business School of UNNC. The NCIC is dedicated to developing high-quality business education cases that reflect the latest trends, challenges, and practices in the business world, thereby enhancing case-based learning at UNNC. The establishment of the NCIC signifies a new era in UNNC's business education. The centre is dedicated to advancing the development of business teaching cases and promoting innovative case teaching with an open and creative mindset, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical business challenges.

External Engagement

By partnering with industry leaders and organisations, NCIC aims to offer resources and platforms for teachers to develop more impactful business education cases. To accelerate the Centre's growth, we invite collaboration with other universities and prominent research institutions to exchange case resources and teaching insights, undertake joint research and collaborative projects, and enhance the effectiveness and competitiveness of case writing and teaching.

Case Publication

Cases developed by the NCIC will strive to be published in top-tier case repositories (E.g. Ivey& Harvard).

Enhancing teaching case development and student learning

The NCIC is set to introduce a variety of educational tools, including organising premier case-related events such as workshops and forums. These gatherings will provide a vibrant environment for educators and students to interact with and learn from industry experts. Furthermore, through comprehensive training programs and practical experience, educators will enhance their case teaching techniques. This approach will boost student engagement, foster critical thinking skills, and prepare students for the global business landscape. By doing so, the NCIC is dedicated to contributing to the cultivation of international business professionals with a worldwide perspective. • Beijing, 29 November: The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) have officially launched a joint sustainability case collection in Beijing. • On 27 April, the NCIC Launch Ceremony was successfully held at the New International Conference Center of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC). Mr Zhicheng She, a guest from the Ningbo Education Bureau, Mr Thomas Murphy, Chief Financial and Planning Officer of UNNC, Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of Nottingham University Business School China, and Dr Huimin Song, Director of NCIC, jointly unveiled the centre.
