About UN SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global goals established by the United Nations as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. These goals build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which guided global development efforts from 2000 to 2015, and are intended to direct global development from 2015 until 2030.

On September 25, 2015, the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, where all 193 member states of the United Nations formally adopted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The SDGs are designed to comprehensively address development issues across social, economic, and environmental dimensions, and to transition towards a path of sustainable development from 2015 to 2030.
