Workshop Introduction
To promote the production of high-quality research outcomes and international publications, the 2026 CNAIS-UNNC Paper Development Workshop will be held in the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) on July 14th, 2026, under the guidance of the China Association for Information Systems (CNAIS).
This workshop has invited prestigious scholars and editors of top journals in Information Systems and related fields to serve as mentors. Through various formats such as group discussions, in-depth paper reviews, and interactive Q&A sessions, the workshop will provide participants with one-on-one, face-to-face research guidance and writing advice. The goal is to empower young scholars to enhance their research capabilities and manuscript quality and expand their academic networks.

Suprateek Sarker currently serves as the Rolls-Royce Commonwealth Eminent Professor of Commerce (Information Technology) at the McIntire School of Commerce, University of Virginia. He is also a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an Honorary Professor at the Business School of the University of Sydney, Australia. Additionally, he is the recipient of the 2023 Whit Broome Award. Prof. Sarker holds positions on the editorial boards of several leading academic journals, including Information Systems Research (currently as the Editor-in-Chief) and the Journal of MIS (as a member of the board of editors). Furthermore, he serves as an Editorial Advisory Board member for journals such as Information & Organization, Information Technology & People, Decision Support Systems, AIS Transactions on HCI, Pacific Asia Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and the International Journal of Information Management. He has previously served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the AIS and the Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research, as well as a Senior Editor of MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, and the Decision Sciences Journal. Professor Sarker's research has appeared in several top journals, including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, the Journal of Management Information Systems, the Journal of the Association of Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information & Organization, the European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Information Systems Journal, the Journal of Strategic Information Systems, the Journal of Information Technology, Information Technology & People, MIS Quarterly Executive, Communications of the AIS, Communications of the ACM, ACM Transactions on MIS, ACM Data Base, IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication, IEEE Software, and the Decision Sciences Journal, as well as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
Chee Wei (David) Phang is currently Associate Dean for Research and Knowledge Exchange and Chair Professor of Behavioural Insights and Decision Sciences. Prior to joining UNNC, he was Professor in Information Systems in the School of Management of Fudan University. His research interests include mobile commerce, social media, and societal impact of IT. His works have appeared in top-tier journals including the Management Science, MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), Journal of Marketing, Journal of Management Information Systems (JMIS), and Journal of the Association for Information Systems, among others. He is serving as an Associate Editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Research and Information & Management, and was a Senior Editor for Electronic Commerce Research and Applications.
Cheng Yi is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering, School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. Her main research areas include e-commerce, human-computer interaction, online consumer behavior, and smart education. She has published numerous academic papers in high-level international and domestic journals in the field of information systems, such as Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management lnformation Systems,Management World,Chinese Journal of Management Science, etc. She has led and participated in several National Natural Science Foundation of China projects and is a recipient of the Excellent Young Scientists Fund. She has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Paper Award at the China Management Science Annual Conference, the Outstanding Paper Award at the China Management Science Annual Conference, the Outstanding Achievement Award in China Information Economics, and the Best Paper Award at the Association for Information Systems Human-Computer Interaction Workshop. She was an Associate Editor of MIS Quarterly. Currently, she serves as an Associate Editor of the international journals in the field of information systems, including Electronic Commerce Research and Electronic Commerce Research and Applications.
Choon Ling Sia is a Professor and Associate Dean (Research and Faculty) at the City University of Hong Kong, and an AIS Fellow. He is currently a Senior Editor of Information Systems Research (ISR), a premier journal in the Information Systems discipline. He previously served as the Director of the Center of Social Media Marketing and Business Intelligence at the City University of Hong Kong. He is serving, or has served, on the editorial boards of MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Global Information Management, Information & Management, and Journal of Database Management. His research interests focus on electronic commerce, social media, cross-cultural issues in information systems, knowledge management, distributed work arrangements, and computer-mediated communication. His work has been published in numerous top international journals, including MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of International Business Studies, ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, Information and Management, Communications of the ACM, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, Internet Research, Information and Software Technology, and International Journal of Information Management.
Heshan Sun is a Professor of Management Information Systems and Analytics at the Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma. He serves as a Senior Editor for MIS Quarterly, the Journal of the Association for Information Systems, and AIS Transactions on HCI. His research focuses on how information technology profoundly influences and interacts with individuals, organizations, and society. His research interests include human technology/AI interaction, business analytics, and online crowd behavior. His published and forthcoming papers have been in many prestigious academic journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, and Journal of the American Society for Information Science and Technology.
Jason Bennett Thatcher holds the Tandean Rustandy Esteemed Professorship at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder. He is also a Full Professor of Management Science at the Alliance Manchester Business School at the University of Manchester and an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham. He received the College of Business and Behavioral Science’s 2008 Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award at Clemson University. He is or has served in senior editor and associate editor roles for several journals, including Information Systems Research, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, AIS Transactions on HCI, and Database for Advances of Information Systems. Prof. Thatcher studies individual decision-making, strategic alignment, and workforce issues related to the effective use of information technology in organizations. His more recent projects have focused on cybersecurity, social media, and digital upper echelons. Jason has published in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Applied Psychology, Harvard Business Review, and others.
Jingjun (David) Xu is a professor in the Department of Information Systems, City University of Hong Kong. Prof. Xu is currently serving as a senior editor for Information Systems Journal and associate editor for UTD Journal Information Systems Research (ISR), and he won the Best Associate Editor Award in ICIS 2020 and ISR Best Associate Editor Award in Oct 2021. Before joining City University of Hong Kong, he was the associate professor of MIS and Bomhoff Endowed Professor of Business at Wichita State University.His research interests include human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, healthcare, social media, technology adoption, and virtual reality. He has over 100 publications including more than 40 journal papers. His work has been published in all top four information systems journals (i.e., MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Association for Information Systems), interdisciplinary UTD journals such as Management Science and INFORMS Journal on Computing, as well as various IEEE journals.
Patrick Chau is Provost and Chair Professor in Information Systems and Business Analytics at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University. He was elected President of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) in 2021-2022. He was the first and only scholar from China elected to this presidency since the establishment of AIS in 1994. Professor Chau was appointed “Chang Jiang Scholars Programme” Chair Professorship by the Ministry of Education in 2010. He has also held Padma and Hari Harilela Professorship in Strategic Information Management at The University of Hong Kong, Qiushi Chair Professorship at Zhejiang University and Lee Dak Sum Chair Professor in Information Systems and Operations Management at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He received AIS Fellow Award in 2013. Professor Chau conducts research in IT adoption and electronic commerce and has more than 100 papers published in prestigious journals in the Information Systems discipline. He has been on Elsevier’s List of Top 2% Scientists worldwide since its first release. As of May 2026, his Google Scholar citations exceed 31,600 with an H-index of 66 and, in Scopus, more than 14,500 with an h-index of 47. He is Emeritus Editor-in-Chief of Information and Management. Under his editorship, the 2-year impact factor of the Journal has grown from 1.84 in 2014 to 8.2 in 2024.
Xin (Robert) Luo is an Endowed Creative Enterprise Chair, Endowed Dean's Professor of Research Excellence, and Distinguished Professor of MIS at the Anderson School of Management of the University of New Mexico, USA. He is the co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Accounting and Information Management, a senior editor for Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, and Internet Research, and as an associate editor for Information & Management, Electronic Commerce Research, and Journal of Electronic Commerce Research. He sits on the Editorial Review Board of Information Systems Research. He has published in leading journals, including Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information Systems Journal, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, and Information & Management.
Yu Tong is a Tenured Professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Management, Zhejiang University. She is the head of the Department of Data Science and Management Engineering, deputy director of the Zhejiang Digital Development and Governance Research Center, and assistant to the president of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine. In recent years, she has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Major Project, the Excellent Young Scientists Fund, the Zhejiang Provincial Qianjiang Talent Program, and the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) Fund. She is also the vice chairman of the Platform Management Professional Committee of the China Information Economics Society and a council member of the Medical Operations Management Branch of the Operations Research Society of China. She has received numerous awards, including the Hong Kong Early Career Award, the Zhejiang Provincial Outstanding Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences (Youth Award), the Innovation Achievement Award of the China Information Economics Society, the Best Paper Award and the Meritorious Mention Award from the Association for Information Systems (SIG Health). Her papers have been published in domestic and international journals such as the China Science Foundation, Journal of Management Engineering, Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Journal of Medical Internet Research. She serves as an associate editor of MIS Quarterly and on the editorial board of several other international journals.

Types of Submissons
To be eligible for participation in the upcoming feedback session, all participants are required to submit a single PDF file that includes the following:
- A shortened version of the research paper, not exceeding 22 pages in total, including all figures, tables, references, and appendices. The manuscript should be formatted using Times New Roman font, 12-point font size, and double spacing.
- An optional one-page description outlining the specific issue(s) on which the participant would like to receive feedback during the workshop.
The workshop will be structured around group discussions. Each group will be led by a senior scholar acting as a mentor alongside another scholar serving as a discussant, who will collaboratively guide 2 to 3 participants. Each participant will be allocated approximately 20 minutes to present their research ideas, theoretical frameworks, research designs, or preliminary findings. Following each presentation, the mentor and discussant will provide targeted, constructive feedback.

To cancel your registration or request a refund, please send a written request to the CNAIS-UNNC Committee by email at xmexcellent@yeah.net. To ensure proper handling, we kindly ask that all requests be made in writing—telephone requests cannot be processed.
Academic conferences are generally not designed for profit, and registration fees go directly toward covering the costs of the event. For this reason, we encourage all participants to review the refund policy carefully in case plans change.
Refunds will be processed as quickly as possible, and no later than one month after the event has concluded. All refunds will be issued to the original payment method used at the time of registration.
Refund Schedule:
- Full Refund – Full refunds will be granted for requests submitted by email on or before 15 June 2026.
- 50% Refund – Requests received between 16 June and 1 July 2026 will be eligible for a 50% refund.
- No Refund – Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for requests received after 1 July 2026.
