Entry requirements for applicants from Japan at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level

Undergraduate level entry requirements

Preliminary year (year one)

Holders of the Japanese Upper Secondary School Leaving Certificate are normally required to take a foundation programme.

Students require grades of at least A or B (or 5 or 4) including relevant subjects (such as Maths and Physics for the Engineering foundation programme).

Qualifying year (year two)

Normally applicants from Japan are required to successfully complete a foundation programme.

Alternatively, applicants who have undertaken at least one year of study at a University in Japan, and those who have completed a Vocational Degree (Senmonshi) or an Associate Degree (Jungakushi) could be considered for Year One entry. Typical minimum requirements are 65% (C+) to 75% (B+).

Postgraduate level entry requirements

A bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The typical GPA requirement is 3.25 out of 4.0.
