UNNC – IGSNRR Geographical Sciences Workshop was successfully held at UNNC

On March 22, the UNNC – IGSNRR Geographical Sciences Workshop was successfully held at UNNC. This workshop was chaired by Dr Ping Fu, Academic Director of the DTP – IGSNRR programme. This workshop aims to strengthen the understanding between the supervisors of IGSNRR and UNNC, to develop the cooperation and breadth of academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, and at the same time, to lay a solid foundation for the continuous and in-depth development of the DTP programme and the achievement of fruitful cooperation results.

Dr Ping Fu gave a speech, warmly welcomed the arrival of the supervisors from both sides, and encouraged the supervisors to deepen cooperation on the basis of the original cooperation, find new cooperation opportunities, and jointly promote the DTP programme from both sides.

Dr Faith Chan, Head of School of Geographical Sciences gave an introduction of UNNC and the current achievements of the DTP programme with IGSNRR.

Jessica Wang, Doctoral Training Partnership Manager and PGR administrator of the Graduate School introduced the DTP programmes of UNNC and answered the questions raised by supervisors.

Professor Zhenbo Wang, Director of Education Department of IGSNRR, made an introduction of IGSNRR, and expressed the hope that the two sides will strengthen scientific research cooperation and exchanges, continue to deepen the cooperation relationship of the DTP programme.

Souvenirs were then exchanged. IGSNRR brought a replica of the " key highlight of the collection" of the library, a map of the Yangtze River Basin in the Ming Dynasty, Dr Faith Chan also presented an UNNC representative souvenir to IGSNRR.

Supervisors from both sides gave academic presentations, reported on their recent research, and sought suitable collaboration opportunities.

Subsequently, the doctoral students of the UNNC – IGSNRR DTP programme also reported their research content.

Tian Jia, a student in this UNNC-IGSNRR DTP program said: “Participating in the DTP program in UNNC is a unique experience that combines international educational concepts and high-quality scientific research resources. During the DTP program with the IGSNRR, I obtained double academic support and guidance from UNNC and the IGSNRR, which broadened my academic horizon, exposed me to different research cultures and ways of thinking, and continuously enhanced my scientific research ability through cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation. Such research environment and mode have provided valuable wealth for my academic career.”

This event gave the supervisors of both sides an opportunity for in-depth cooperation, provided an opportunity for the supervisors to communicate with each other, and was also an excellent platform for the study, knowledge exchange and development of the doctoral students in this DTP programme.
