The team led by Mingxin Zhang is a diverse group, which includes students majoring in architecture from Dalian University of Technology, University College London, Beijing Forestry University, and University of Nottingham Ningbo China. The team has good teamwork, some worked on conceptualisation, model creation, drawing, and landscape configuration, Mingxin led the initial concept and digital modelling. Using local bamboo and drawing inspiration from rocking chairs, they completed the construction of a garden named "Gentle Rocking and Slow Swinging" in three days. Their design competed many prestigious universities including Tsinghua University and the China Academy of Art.

Mingxin shared that thanks to the UNNC and the education he received, he could lead a team of students from different universities and succeed in the competition. Apart from the professional skills he learned in the architecture class, teamwork skills are even more important. “Many of our coursework are group projects. For example, this year, in the ‘Architectural Environmental Science’ module, I worked with Architectural Environmental Engineering students to design a primary school implementing a passive building strategy. This interdisciplinary design project further enhanced my teamwork skill and project management skills.” The university’s 24-hour accessible design studio and the diverse background of teaching staff also provided Mingxin the best learning experience in architecture studies.

Mingxin's accomplishments in various design competitions reflect his hard work, dedication and the broad platform provided by the University. With the solid support and the global vision he gained from the University, he hopes to continue to strive for excellence in architecture and apply his knowledge and skills to advance architectural design in China.
