10 July: The unveiling ceremony of the Industry, Teaching and Research Base (The Base) - a collaboration by China Construction Bank (CCB), University Ningbo Branch and UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory - took place.

The Base, co-established by CCB University Ningbo Branch and UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Laboratory, is an example of implementing central government policy to deepen the integration of education and production. By using big data, cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies, the Base aims to set up fintech innovative platforms and promote the integration and cultivation of fintech talent. Relying on cooperation with the Laboratory, the Base can give scope to rich scientific and educational resources as well as the localisation advantages of UNNC. In addition, with the growing demand for practical applications in Ningbo, CCB is competent to support the creative financial technology and cultivation of innovation fintech talent. 

Thomas Murphy, Chief Financial and Planning Officer of UNNC, gave a welcome speech at the ceremony. He pointed out that the Laboratory and CCB University Ningbo Branch can work together in areas including artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, Big Data and ecosystems, and The Base can better serve companies and financial institutions in Ningbo and other cities.

Zhimeng Lu, Deputy Director of NFTZ Management Committee, also delivered a speech at the ceremony, expressing warm congratulations for the establishment of The Base. 

In his speech, Jianping Fang, the President of CCB Ningbo, presented a vision that The Base can provide more professional courses to train financial technology talent and promote financial development. 

The ceremony was hosted by Professor Xiuping Hua, Director of the Laboratory. Professor Martin Lockett, Chairman of the Board of UNNC-NFTZ Blockchain Lab, and Yongliang Xu, Vice President of CCB Ningbo unveiled the ceremony plaque.
