In recent years, UNNC has consistently increased its investment in scientific research, achieving remarkable progress in disciplinary development.
In the field of chemistry, eight scholars were listed in the 2024 "World's Top 2% Scientists" ranking. These scholars have been deeply engaged in research areas such as green chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, and molecular biology, maintaining close collaborations with renowned domestic and international companies in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and materials sectors, and driving the industrial application of scientific research outcomes.
Furthermore, UNNC has developed multiple advanced research platforms equipped with state-the-of-art facilities and cutting-edge equipment in the field of chemistry. A number of research projects in the field has obtained substantial funding from national and provincial research grants.
With dual support of talent and technologies, UNNC’s subject of chemistry has made great progress. The chemical engineering and technology discipline has been selected for the provincial first-class discipline construction list during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Meanwhile, the university has produced a series of research achievements with significant influence through technological innovation.
A project on the treatment and resource utilisation of pharmaceutical sludge led by Professor Tao Wu, Chair Professor of Chemical Engineering, has significantly reduced energy consumption and waste emissions while efficiently treating pharmaceutical sludge. Dr Yuanyuan Shao, Associate Professor in Green Chemicals and Energy has achieved a revolutionary breakthrough with the Particle-Enhanced Bioreactor in the field of green energy. This innovation has significantly improved wastewater treatment efficiency, enhanced the system's ability to withstand shock loads, and ensured stable operation.
