The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has achieved a significant rise in the 2026 ShanghaiRanking’s Best Chinese Universities Ranking, placing 2nd among Sino-foreign universities and 65th nationally among more than 1,000 institutions.
The latest results mark a notable improvement from 2025, with UNNC climbing 11 places nationally and moving up one position within its category. This upward momentum reflects both enhanced ranking performance and growing reputation, underpinned by consistently strong student outcomes. UNNC’s undergraduate value-added performance has ranked first nationally for six consecutive years with full marks, while its graduate progression rate has remained among the top three nationwide for seven consecutive years.
The ranking, one of the most influential globally, evaluates universities across ten key dimensions. UNNC demonstrated particular strength in faculty quality, talent cultivation, and international competitiveness, with several indicators ranking at the top among Sino-foreign institutions. The University placed first in faculty structure and learning conditions, and second in learning outcomes, highlighting the strength of its academic staff and the effectiveness of its teaching.
Key performance indicators — including undergraduate value-added performance, proportion of classes taught by professors, faculty qualifications, and nationally recognised first-class undergraduate courses — all ranked among the highest.
The results underscore UNNC’s continued progress in academic excellence, student development, and internationalised education, and reflect strong recognition of its overall performance.
