Revolving around the main topic of Evidence-Based Medicine and Clinical Research Methods, this two-day event included a plenary session and eight workshops covering clinical guidelines, cancer screening, stroke, hearing lost, traditional Chinese medicine, and more.

Speaking at the plenary session, UNNC Provost Nick Miles welcomed the guests from various fields in medicine and healthcare to investigate evidence-based medicine.

“Evidence-based medicine is driving widespread innovation in the practice and delivery of quality healthcare in the 21st century,” he said. “We seek to promote increased collaboration opportunities between academic researchers and clinical practitioners, with the aim of raising the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of health care in China.”

This forum brought together renowned academics both in and outside of China to discuss their researches and share best practices. Guests included hearing research expert, Professor Deborah Hall (UNUK), Professor Chen Yao (Peking University), Professor Dong Xu (Sun Yat-sen University), and Professor Guozhang Xu (Ningbo Municipal Centre for Disease Control and Prevention).

The first Sino-UK (Ningbo) Forum, held in 2018, established a global collaboration platform for evidence-based medicine. Participation in this year’s forum exceeded last year, attracting around 360 people nationwide.

Professor Stephen Morgan, Executive Director of the Nottingham China Health Institute said that the event produced meaningful dialogues between Chinese and UK researchers on evidence-based medicine.

We were excited to see new research agendas being developed at the forum and we agreed proposals for future professional training programmes, conferences and workshops that can support the China’s health system development.
