Dear students,
I am delighted that the University of Nottingham Ningbo China can now welcome you, our family of students, back to your campus. After two long months away, it is very pleasing to be able to say “welcome home” to our UNNC students.
I hope that our online teaching has ensured that you are well prepared to recommence your studies and that you feel ready to resume campus life in Ningbo. This is in no small part due to the commitment and dedication of all our staff who have worked tirelessly to keep our campus safe, maintain our teaching operations online and continue to support you wherever you have been located in recent weeks. We all owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
When returning to campus, please do travel safely and observe the official precautions both on- and off-campus to ensure you protect yourselves, your loved ones and your University family from further transmission.
Amongst the difficult headlines and tragic statistics of the global pandemic, there is one positive lesson that I continue to draw: that we continue to work so closely together in the interests of our global University community.
Over the past few months, UNNC has played an essential role as a bridge between our international campuses, as part of the broader Nottingham international community. I know that many of the lessons and experiences of our colleagues in China are now informing the approaches we are taking in the UK and Malaysia.
I look forward to a day when I can write to our students in the UK and Malaysia to welcome them back to their campuses. In the meantime, I am delighted this is the case at Ningbo and I send you every good wish for your continued and successful studies.
With my very best wishes,
Shearer
