The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) has surpassed its previous results in the latest “World’s Top 2% Scientists” list jointly released by Stanford University and Elsevier. A total of 54 UNNC scholars are included in the single-year database, and 32 in the career-long database, representing year-on-year increases of nearly 40% and over 50% respectively. Notably, 30 scholars were recognised in both databases, underscoring the university’s significant achievements in building a high-calibre academic talent pool.
The research fields of the listed scholars span a wide spectrum across 27 subfields, including artificial intelligence, networking and telecommunications, electrical and electronic engineering, environmental sciences, analytical chemistry, applied physics, microbiology, food science, science studies, business and management, communication and media studies. Closely aligned with socio-economic and industry development needs, these achievements highlight the unique advantages of UNNC’s strategy to integrate global intellectual leadership with region-specific imperatives, catalysing breakthroughs in key technologies while powering regional industrial success.
UNNC has built a high-quality international faculty, with academic staff either seconded from the University of Nottingham or recruited globally to the same exacting standards. All UNNC academics have experience in top global universities or industry; around 60% are from overseas. Around one in seven researchers is recognised among the world's top 2% scientists. Over the past five years, UNNC’s Field Weighted Citation Impact (Scopus) has reached 1.56, higher than the 1.48 of the C9 alliance.
Professor Laura Bishop, Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange, extended her congratulations to the scientists recognised this year.
