For Chenhao Sun, a Finance, Accounting and Management student at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC), his term at the University of New South Wales was a transformative experience. Beyond academic gains, collaborating with peers from around the world broadened his perspective and sharpened his critical thinking. His part-time job in Sydney further enhanced his communication skills and cross-cultural adaptability.

Sun's story exemplifies the profound impact of UNNC’s international exchange programme. This summer, over 350 UNNC students will embark on study at top global institutions, including the University of Oxford, the National University of Singapore, and University of California,Los Angeles.

The programme serves as an immersive cross-cultural “classroom”. Weiyun Luo, an International Communications student, broadened her global outlook during her time at the University of Navarra in Spain through exposure to diverse perspectives. Similarly, Changru Chen, also a Finance, Accounting and Management student, gained new insights into study-life balance after conversations with local students during her exchange in Denmark and came to place greater value on "soft skills" such as adaptability.

These experiences often ignite future paths. Zhenxuan Huang, a Mathematics and Applied Mathematics student, significantly strengthened his expertise through a data analysis and machine learning course using R programming at Radboud University. Zhengting He, an International Studies student, found that his exchanges at University College Dublin and Aarhus University provided the interdisciplinary foundation for his successful postgraduate application to the University of Cambridge.

Alumni like Donglai Shi, now a Tenure-Track Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, attest that UNNC's international exposure sparked his enduring academic passions for comparative literature.

As a member of Universitas 21 (U21), UNNC has established partnerships with more than 160 higher education institutions across over 40 countries and regions. Its international programmes extend beyond traditional study, integrating cultural immersion, research, internships and sustainability initiatives. Students engage deeply with the world, transforming global experiences into tangible growth in perspective, capability, and ambition.

As Chenhao Sun puts it: “UNNC is more than just a university — it acts like a ‘life mentor’, equipping us with a global perspective to measure the breadth of our lives and reach further into the future.”
