On 11 April, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) welcomed students, parents, alumni and partners from around the world to its 2026 Open Day. Held both on campus and online, the event drew strong engagement from a global audience, offering visitors an opportunity to experience first-hand the University’s distinctive model as China’s first Sino-foreign university. Blending British and Chinese educational traditions, UNNC continues to position itself truly as a “university without borders”.

Throughout the day, visitors explored an array of interactive activities that brought together cultures, disciplines and ideas. From immersive cultural experiences inspired by both Eastern and Western traditions to hands-on demonstrations of the University’s academic strengths, the Open Day highlighted UNNC’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning and global engagement. Faculties showcased cutting-edge facilities, including advanced laboratories and virtual production spaces, while also connecting innovation with historical perspectives such as China’s Four Great Inventions.

A series of taster lectures and academic sessions introduced key themes shaping the future of education, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence, sustainability and technological innovation. Prospective students and their families also engaged directly with academic and admissions staff, gaining insights into degree programmes, international exchange opportunities and pathways for further study within UNNC’s global network.

Beyond the classroom, the Open Day captured the vibrancy of campus life, from creative workshops and exhibitions to sports activities and community celebrations. Together, these experiences reflected UNNC’s open, inclusive ethos—where cultures meet, ideas flow freely and students are empowered to become globally minded graduates.
