From 12 to 19 April, University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) hosted its 2025 Environmental Sustainability Week, featuring a wide range of activities including sustainable farming, sustainability board game marathon, “Business for Good” field trip, and expert forum.
These events engaged students and staff with pressing environmental issues, encouraging them to explore sustainable living through hands-on, real-world experiences. At the same time, the initiative reached out beyond just the campus, bringing green ideas into local communities and industries, and encouraging joint efforts toward a sustainable future.
A series of creative and eco-conscious events also took place across the UNNC campus, including a flea market, a sustainability-themed book fair, and art exhibition—an imaginative display created using industrial waste materials such as fibreglass and plaster.
Professor Kok Wei Khong, Dean of Nottingham University Business School China, and Chair of UNNC Environmental Sustainability Committee, remarked: “Sustainability is not an optional add-on; it is a fundamental responsibility. Universities must act as leaders and inspirers, leading the way towards a world where environmental, social, and economic sustainability are priorities. We would like to become a beacon of sustainable development within the global higher education community, embedding sustainability across all aspects of university life through campus operation, education, and research.”
