The University of Nottingham Ningbo China Education Foundation (UNNC Education Foundation) has once again been awarded the highest honour of a 5A-rated social organisation by the Zhejiang Province Civil Affairs Department. The announcement, made on 17 December 2024, marks the second time the Foundation has received this prestigious accolade, following its first 5A rating in 2019.
Established on 4 September 2012, the UNNC Education Foundation is a non-public fundraising foundation approved by the Zhejiang Province Department of Civil Affairs and the Zhejiang Province Department of Education. It holds the distinction of being the first Sino-foreign cooperative university foundation in Zhejiang Province to achieve a 5A rating.
Since its inception, the Foundation has remained committed to its mission of “pooling resources and wisdom, cultivating virtue and nurturing people.” By actively expanding its network and absorbing social resources, it has played a vital role in supporting and promoting the long-term development of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC).
This latest achievement reflects the collective efforts of the Foundation under the guidance of the university and its board of directors, as well as the unwavering support of alumni and the wider community. The 5A rating not only recognises the Foundation’s past accomplishments but also serves as a powerful motivation for its future endeavours.
Looking ahead, the UNNC Education Foundation will continue to strengthen its role as a bridge between the university, its supporters, alumni, and the community. By gathering more social resources and adapting to the evolving needs of the university’s development, the Foundation aims to further contribute to UNNC’s growth and inject new vitality into the advancement of public welfare and philanthropic initiatives in the region.
The 5A rating is awarded as part of the standardised assessment of social organisations conducted by civil affairs departments at all levels of government. This assessment is a key measure to ensure the healthy development of social organisations through rigorous, objective, and comprehensive evaluation. Organisations are graded on a scale from 1A to 5A, with 5A (AAAAA) representing the highest level of accreditation. Achieving this top rating is a testament to the Foundation’s professionalism, standardisation, credibility, transparency, and innovation.
The UNNC Education Foundation’s continued success underscores its dedication to excellence and its pivotal role in supporting education and community development. This recognition reaffirms its position as a leader among social organisations in Zhejiang Province and beyond.
