Experience Celadon and Pottery Arts
26 October 2024
Under the organization of UNNC CI, 27 staff and students from different cultural backgrounds went to the Celadon intangible heritage base to experience the history and culture of celadon art on 26th Oct.
Ningbo was the original area of celadon in Yue Kiln. It has long history to make celadon. Celadon in Yue Kiln is characterized by thin fetal bones, uniform gaze, green and lush, and radiant glaze. It was not only one of the tributes to the imperial court, but also an important trade ceramic in the Tang Dynasty.
During the visit, the participants appreciated the exhibition of celadon works and learned the history about the development of celadon art in Ningbo. They also had a chance to make their own piece of work. Under the guidance of professional craftsman, the participants successfully made a lot of exquisite and creative ‘half-done’ handcrafts. in the future one month, more procedures would be done including air-cure, burning, and coloring. The final work would be delivered to the participants. Hopefully it would be a nice gift for this cultural trip for all the participants.
