"Oriental Cup"— Chinese Calligraphy Salon for the international community in Ningbo was successfully held in UNNC

On September 26,2018, the ‘Oriental Cup’ —Chinese calligraphy salon for the international community in Ningbo was successfully held in UNNC. This activity was hosted by Oriental Fin Art Museum and cooperated with Confucius Institute of UNNC. Professor Shujie Yao, the Director of Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch delivered the keynote speech in the opening ceremony. 18 international students/staff participated the event.
During the activity, calligrapher from Oriental Fine Art Museum introduced the rich culture of Chinese calligraphy and gave instructions on how to write it. All the international participants were deeply attracted by the magical combination of writing brush (máo bǐ), the rice paper (xuān zhǐ) and the ink (mò), and they were using Chinese characters to express their love to China, their own countries and even to the world.
This salon is a component of the Second‘Oriental Cup’ National Calligraphy Contest. The participants will have chance to win 10,000 RMB award if their calligraphy work wins the first prize in the national level competition.
