UNNC International Students Chinese Competition

28 April 2020

On 20 April, we saw the closure of the International Students Chinese Competition with excellent videos from four UNNC international students, which recorded and reflected their lives and thinking in the context of COVID-19.  As a conventional programme of UNNC International Education Week, this competition was conducted via online platform this year and was jointly organized by the Nottingham Confucius Institute China Ningbo Branch, Department of Campus Life and UNNC Mandarin Corner.

The competition has received warm welcome and positive feedback since its release. All the candidates carefully prepared their videos, and then their works were put on the online voting evaluation. Meanwhile, Mandarin teachers from the Confucius Institute gave scores and provided professional comments for each participants. Finally, Suthida Chang and Joshua Lee won the first and second place of the competition.

We would like to thank you for the enthusiastic participation from international students and all parties’ effort to organize this event.  As one of the candidates stated:” The competition was a great way to reflect on what I have accomplished over the past few months. It was also good motivation to learn and advance myself in the special period.”  The competition was not only about the language contest, but also offered us a platform to communicate and join hands to overcome the difficulties. We believe that we will defeat COVID-19 eventually, so does the other blocks on our way to success.
