On 2 Nov 2019, the fifth Chinese competition for the foreigners in Ningbo was successfully held in Tianyi Pavilion Museum. Candidates from different countries such as South Korean, England, Japan and Russia participated in this competition. Suyong Choi, a student from NCI HSK6 group showed her excellent language competence as well as deep understanding about China and Chinese culture in the competition.

The competition was comprised of four sections: self-introduction, talent show, idioms complement and video dubbing. Suyong shared her experience of living and learning Mandarin in China in the first part. Her beautiful singing of Chinese pop song <Come into my dream> (《我的歌声里》) attracted audiences’ attention. They all cheered and applauded for her. In the third part, Suyong could easily say out the full idioms by recognizing limited giving characters or even radicals. She also showed her fluency and accuracy while dubbing a short video from Chinese teleplay < All is well > (《都挺好》).

This competition was full of competent candidates. Some of them has studied Chinese and even lived in China for many years.  At the end of the competition, Mr. Guomiao Chen, Deputy Director of Ningbo Foreign Affairs Office and Miss. Xiao Yun, Radio presenter of NBTV, fully affirmed their outstanding performances as well as their attention on China and Chinese culture. We hope through this competition, the participants can build the bridge of communication and cooperation between Ningbo and the world.
