International Students Learn Chinese Tea Snack at Gulin Vocational Technical School

16th Oct, 19 representatives of UNNC international students who came from 11 different countries visited Gulin Vocational Technical School to experience the Chinese tea and cuisine culture. This event aimed to enhance the international students’ understanding of the Ningbo city’s history on tea making, drinking and trading as well as its function in the Marine Silk Road.
Gulin Vocational Technical School was known for its outstanding culinary majors. In the welcome speech, the headmaster Mr Xianshui Zhang introduced the school’s achievements in cultivating skillful young cooks to win high prize in international vocational competition, its competitive teaching team, and great investment in the facilities.
Participants were amazed by the elegant tea ceremony performance, the sweet and aromatic osmanthus longjing green tea, and delicious lotus pastry which served to the 19th Hangzhou Asia Olympic Games.
They also had a chance to learn how to make the lotus pastry. Many students indicated that this event was very interesting, they would like to learn more about how to do Chinese snacks, and show what they’ve learnt to their friends and families.
This event was jointly organized by the Confucius Institute and Department of Campus Life as one of the components of the university’s Living in China program.
